Small Business Week

#DCSmallBizWeek

Annually during the first week of May*, the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development, along with District agency partners Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD), Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), and the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), and the entire small business community celebrate Small Business Week in the District of Columbia.

Thousands of DC residents, small businesses, organizations and local council members participate in this exciting week of corridor canvassing, Heart of DC Rewards Program, workshops, celebrations and forums in every quadrant of the District. Owners and customers will share photos and stories about the importance of small business. The public is also encouraged to take pics and share their favorite small business with the hashtag #DCSmallBizWeek.

*Due to the COVID-19 Public Health Crisis, DC Small Business Week has been postponed to later in 2020.

COVID-19 Update

Due to the impact of COVID-19, we were unable to officially celebrate Small Business Week 2020. Nonetheless, we still want to recognize the social, cultural, and economic benefits that local, independent small businesses contribute to our neighborhoods throughout the District.

As we draw closer to year-end, CNHED urges to to show how much you value small businesses by shopping local this holiday season.

Finally, we want you to save the date to celebrate next year’s DC Small Business Week, May 3-7, 2021.
