What is a Virtual Scavenger Hunt?

A scavenger hunt is a group activity where teams or individuals compete to complete tasks, find objects, and/or visit locations (thus earning points) on a list provided by the event organizer. Traditionally, scavenger hunt items were printed on paper lists, with players using pen and pencil to fill in riddle answers, or check off locations and items they find. Often, “proof” that a team or player has found an item or reached a location is brought back to the organizer in order for points to be awarded. In the age of smartphones with portable cameras, photos or video clips of team members with specific items or at specified destinations has become a great way of providing proof of teams completing scavenger hunt missions.

Rules & Terms

• All activities must take place during the hunt (9 am on Monday, May 16, 2022, through 11:59 am on Tuesday, May 31, 2022).

• The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team at any time for offensive submissions or other unsportsmanlike behavior.

• The organizers reserve the right to clarify any rules or instructions that may come into question.

• The scavenger hunt is divided into neighborhoods all around the District. You may go to as many or as few neighborhoods as you would like.

• At least one participant per team must be 18 years or older.

• By participating in the Small Business: The Heart of DC Scavenger Hunt, you grant CNHED the right to share your photo submissions on CNHED’s social platforms. Winners will be announced on CNHED’s social media platforms.

• Please ensure you’ve reviewed Goose Chase’s Terms of Service prior to playing.

• Wear a mask, practice social distancing, stay hydrated and have fun!

• In case of a tie the individual or team that submitted their last mission earliest will win the top prize.
